Am I scaring him?

I met a guy a couple weeks ago at a party at my university. We ended up making out and I spent the night at his place WITHOUT having sex. (We’re both virgins.) Anyway, he called me up a couple days later and we hung out again.

Then I flew to my parents’ house in another state. I messaged him on facebook, ahd he replied, and then he AIMed me. We ended up talking for 5 or 6 hours. The next day I IMed him, and we ended up talking for 4 hours.

1) Does he like me, or is he just “putting” up with me? (You know how some people don’t tell the truth to people, yet just “stand them.”)
2) Am I scaring him? I tend to be a very sarcastic, cynical person. Yet I usually try to lay it off people I just meet in case I scare them lol. Would you be scared if a girl was cynically facetious?
3) He had wanted me to call him when I got back to college before I left over a week ago. Should I still do that considering we spoke through AIM?

Is time spent on Yahoo Answers more educational than Facebook or MySpace?

As an advisor that teaches an intro to university class this fall, I notice many students use Facebook and MySpace. If they are going to be addicted to internet content, what popular site would be the most educational and positive experience?
By “if they are going to be addicted” I mean they are already addicted and sitting on computers too much already and we have a tough time peeling them off! Why do you think they are more diabetic and getting flabby? No exercise on the computer! Granted, treadmill-powered computers might be the wave of the future, but for the time being, how can we redirect this energy in a more positive direction.

I’d like to improve graduate student social life. Any suggestions?

I go to a largish university and the graduate student social life is disappointing. We all seem to be fragmented and doing our own things, only with students in our departments. The engineers never really get to meet the film students, and the law students never hang out with the biochemists. How does one help to create a better sense of community? I’m interested in online proposals (e.g. facebook – but grad students tend to shun it as an undergrad thing) in addition to the more traditional options. A graduate student activities center or student center in the middle of campus would probably be ideal, but there’s no money for it. Any ideas?

How do I start networking and meeting people with facebook?

I have a myspace and have friends on it but just got the facebook. However, how do I start adding people from my school without looking like a creep and then run into them on campus. I do want to meet new people but I dont know too many people at my school. I just don’t want to add random people. Transferring to my university from JC makes it harder. I graduated h.s. in 01, before all this social networking craze and not too many people my graduting year are on them. The people I actually talk to in class or at school are not on facebook.

Safe neighborhoods in Baltimore?

I’m considering a move to Baltimore or the surrounding area next summer and i’ve been looking on craigslist at apartments, but i’m not sure what neighborhoods are safe/ideal for me…i’m a 23 year old single female. So ideally I’d like to live somewhere safe, affordable, and as close to the University of Baltimore as possible…oh, and i’m not too keen on parallel parking or having to search for parking, so a nice apartment complex on the outskirts of the city would work for me too…any suggestions on towns/neighborhoods I should look into??

What kind of social networking / community discussion site should I start?

I have a large university’s bandwidth (1000 megabytes per second), I’m willing to buy an external hard drive or two if necessary (several hundred gigabytes of storage), I am creative and have a lot of experience in web design and graphics, and I have worked with PHP/MySQL. I also have friends who can help me code something, and I know people who could help me build a community and user base.

What can I make that college students would use? A Yahoo! Answers type site? Something similar to Rate My Professors? Facebook/Myspace? Something like Google Docs/Spreadsheets, except with some kind of commenting/discussion system?

Let me know if you guys have any ideas. Thanks!

Blatant Racism at Johns Hopkins University. Any Thoughts?

Ok, so im a sophmore at Johns Hopkins University in baltimore, i.e. one of the major research and medical institutions in the entire world.

On saturday, the Sigma Chi fraternity posted on facebook (college myspace) an extremely racist party invite called “Halloween in the hood.” In the invitation, the social chair of the party writes that baltimore is an “HIV pit” and refered to blacks as “scallywhops, hoodrats, and skig skags.” Infront of the party house Sigma Chi hung a skeleton that was meant to resemble a black person.

The whole school right now is an uproar.
The NAACP of baltimore are also involved.

What do you guys think?
