Anyone live in or near La Jolla, CA? Looking for a housing community to rent from..Any suggestions?

I know it is pricey in most places, but I just don’t want to have to leave the area..and I am without a place to stay until I find one..
(2 bedrooms +) I checked Rent.com and Craigslist, but they only give you biased info from whatever community is posting..I am looking for people with personal renting experiences in this area..

In rental housing listings, discrimination is illegal. Is saying “Non-smokers only” discrimination?

I’m talking mainly about Craigslist. A lot of people rent out houses they own, and say “Non-smokers only.” However, I think this can be considered discrimination, because it is alluding to something you do regardless of where you live. I’m a smoker, but I refuse to smoke INSIDE the house. But, because I’m a smoker, does that mean that they won’t rent to me because I smoke outside, where it is perfectly legal? I’m thinking that they need to state something more to the point of “No smoking INSIDE THE PROPERTY.” That I can understand, because they OWN the property, so they have a right to say something like that. But to put a blanket statement and say that no smokers are allowed to live there, I think might be considered discrimination. Can anyone with any real estate/CA Housing Laws/Fair Property Act (I think) give me some insight into this? I would appreciate it!
“Seriously, get over yourself.” “It is hippy whiners like you that run this country.”

Give me a break morons! Sooo….apparently you don’t understand the definition of the word “Question.” I’m looking for a place to live, don’t want to ruffle anyone’s feathers, so I ask a QUESTION to see if I have any legal grounds to stand on (hence the “real estate/CA Housing Laws/Fair Property Act” mention!)

haha-you guys make me laugh. It’s so funny when someone gets SO MAD at a smoker, and then they go drink their 12 pack of Budweiser, and stop and pick up 8 Starbuck’s a day. You guys are funny. I wanted an answer, and I got a laugh. THANKS!

What are the best ways to look for housing (renting) in Boston?

My sister is moving out to do her residency at Mass. General and wants to find affordable housing. Are there any websites that she should check out? Anything like Craigslist for San Franciscans?

Safe and relatively inexpensive town / neighborhood between Baltimore and Bethesda?

I’m going to be going to grad school in Baltimore but I work in Bethesda so I want to live somewhere in between (but not too far from either). Any advice on where to find good housing deals? Craigslist?

Where’s a good place to search for apartments in San Luis Obispo area?

I’m looking for a place in the SLO area. I need help trying to find a nice and affordable housing. I know about craigslist, apartments.com, and rent.com. Is there any other good sources I should know about. Thank you.

Temporary Housing (weekly) in New York?

I have family coming over to New York during x-mas. They need a place to stay for about 2 weeks since my small studio apartment in Nassau is not going to be able to host them. Where can I look for temporary rentals by the week or by the month?

Please don’t suggest www.craigslist.com since I already know that and wouldn’t be asking this question if craigslist can resolve my question.

What’s a poor person to do for housing?

I need an apartment. I can’t share a room because I have two small children, and I am disabled and can’t work full time. I am currently in college and the apartment complex I live in is so awful and dirty. Section 8 is closed so I can not get on that, and I will never have three times the rent and don’t have a co-signer, but I can afford to pay $600 a month. Does anyone know of any places online, other than Craigslist (been there) that I can search for housing in San Jose that is affordable? I am getting desperate to move someplace clean and safe while I finish my BA.
