Things to look for in a foosball table:
1: Smooth players
They should move side to side and rotate smoothly. They should also be balanced such that if you leave them horizontal or upside-down, they’ll stay that way.
2. Smooth surface
You don’t want the ball to take a weird change in direction because of a pitted or warped surface.
3. Adjustable feet
If the floor you put the table on isn’t perfectly level, you’ll want to be able to level the playing field (literally) and adjustable feet is the easiest way to do that.
4. Weight
All other things being equal, a heavy table is desirable so that when you get into the game, you won’t move the table when you try to move your men. A solid feel is important.
Ball, handles, and the type of men can be changed, so they’re not as critical.
A high-quality foosball table will retail for over $1000. Big names are Garlando, Dynamo, Tornado and Tournament Soccer/Million Dollar. Generally, you get what you pay for, and the higher-priced tables will play better. If you’re not a serious player, you’ll probably be fine with a lower-priced table. Try it before you commit to buying it, and if it feels right and seems well-constructed, you’ll probably be fine.
