I am looking to work on the side doing some PHP and MySql programming work. Where is a good place besides craigslist.org for me to find people who need programming help and will pay for it?

RentACoder. Basically think of it as eBay for contractors, so it’s selling in reverse. People and companies with projects post descriptions of what they want done, and coders post bids on how much they are willing to get paid to do the work, along with resumes. The buyer can then make an informed decision on who gets the bid by comparing the bidder’s asking price, their online resume, and their track record — just like on eBay you have a performance history and rating system. So it will be a challenge to get your first bid accepted. This is where CraigsList is actually pretty handy… find people looking for programmers on CraigsList, and when you get to the stage of negotiating terms, have them create a private project for you on RentACoder by giving them the URL to your resume.
They have a 15% commission but all sorts of advantages such as an escrow service and arbitration. Payment perious are twice a month via snail mail paper check or PayPal.
