What does it mean if a guy says that you hooked up and that he meant it not in the sexual way?
December 15th, 2009
I met a guy in January through a close friend. The guy posted on my facebook site that we had hooked up while in school and then put that he was kidding. I asked him about it today, but did not get a straight answer. He said he was meaning the common meaning of the words “hooked up” and not anything peverted or sexual in the least. He stated that he was joking anyway, but I am just curious as to what these words mean.

it means boyfriend and girlfriend

If he didn’t mean it as anything sexual, then why did he say he was just kidding? Sounds like he DID mean it in a sexual way, then suddenly realised you would find out. Any other time, it would simply mean to hang out.

hooked up:
1) to be a couple and dating exclusively. to imply a level of intimacy.
2) to have sex, find and become intimate with a partner.

Provided he was being genuine, he probably meant you got together and did something–which is what I assume the “common meaning” of “hooked up” is.
