I have an idea for a database-driven website. Where can I find a good programmer?

I know HTML, CSS, and have done a little ASP stuff a few years ago. I have an idea for an internet-based business that is somewhat beyond my abilities, however. What the best way to find a programmer who will build this thing for me? Should I try craigslist? Or maybe getafreelancer.com? Anybody have experience with this kind of thing?

  1. It is not always simple to get an idea implemented!! But it is nice to hear that you are excited about your business idea.
I am a website programmer/application developer and would be interested in knowing more about it.

There are many ways to get programmer by visiting sites like rentacoder etc. But it is better if you ask some person you already know, to work with you.

  3. My advice is hire someone as you would if you had to hire a D.J. for your wedding: get someone locally, meet them, talk to them, and during the talk analyze if you’re feeling comfortable with the person. You’re going to deal with this person in a detail-oriented endeavor. You main concerns are if the person has a positive attitude, is not arrogant, is honest and professional. A negative attitude will stall your project. An arrogant attitude will make it very unpleasant. A dishonest person will re-sell your code.
In general, if you’re doing a Microsoft solution, don’t hire a Linux person, and viceversa.
Don’t hire someone you can’t meet in person. Find a programmer through friends, and friends of friends.
