I aminterested in getting a fresh start for the new year in Mary Kay, and would like to know how can I make money without purchasing an inventory until the customers order from my catalogs or business cards-online? Is it still possible to make a living from home this way? Please tell me how
tear around in one of those pink cadiallacs. that would be just great. wouldn't it? get one with a northstar engine in it

I don't see why not, however the more successful MK consultants do maintain an inventory of popular products.

Ask your team leader to do some bookings with you. She will bring her kit and your customers can view the collection. I did a Mary Kay collection party, this way you cater for all types/ages and you get knowledge of the product as well. You will reach your business building rewards via sales and commence starting your own stock.
Ask you time leader if she has information cards etc, this way you can build up to doing presentations whilst your team leader can guide you.
My time leader does all promotional things for me, she does all presentations, I host and she passed the reward of sales my way.
I did a mail box drop in my area, I approached the local school and day-care’s to have a "mother's only tamper night" and I put out brochures at Christmas, mother's day and father's day at the daycare. After I built up my stock I donated back to the daycare and they raffled a basket of goodies, the monies went to the daycare and the kids.
For mail drops, do up a flyer of a special product – the lipstick, line and gloss with carry case. Push new things into your area, give them your contact details and tell them to contact you for a “preview selection party” or a “girl night out”. I always did a follow up 2 weeks later.
Don’t be afraid to brainstorm ideas with your team leader, your sales and business does reflect on her as well. The more your succeed both of you are rewarded.
Drop me a line if you get stuck.

Anything is possible and people are always doing unique and creative things in regards to marketing and making money. But is it possible to make a living without purchasing inventory first in Mary Kay and strictly doing catalogs?? What do you consider a living?
Are you needing to make a certain amount of money each month to pay the bills? Or are you doing it for a little extra spending cash on the side?
How much time are you willing to give yourself in order to make that sort of income?
Do you love Mary Kay products and use them yourself?
Are you good doing Home Parties and catalog type parties?
I know it is possible to make money and sell products through the catalogs. But it seems to be more convenient for your customers if you have the items on hand so they don't have to wait for it. And how well saturated is the area you are in? Will you be competing with a bunch of "seasoned" MK'ers who have product on hand and have a name for themselves as the go-to-lady for MK?
As for on-line marketing of MK products…you should be able to find some people to purchase your products, but you will really need to get yourself out there in front of lots of people because a lot of times when women consider purchasing something from MK they either know someone locally to go through or they find them locally.
Sorry if that sounds harsh, I don't mean for it to be and I don't want to discourage you from going for it if that's what you would really like to do. But I also know that what I've said is generally how things go with this sort of thing and it's better to know exactly what it takes and judge whether you can or cannot do it before jumping in and spending a great deal of money, time and or effort on your part only to find out later and feel misled.
Good Luck!
