It is very easy to track your adsense earnings through specific areas of your site using channels. Using channels will allow you to track each individual ads income separately.

The channels are really easy to set up and use as follows:

    1. Set up your ad normally.
    2. Click the continue button on the “Adsense for Content>Choose Ad Format and Colors” page.
    3. You will then be on the “Adsense for Content>Choose Ad Channels” page.
    4. You will see a link on the bottom left of the page called “Add new Channel” click this link.
    5. From here a pop up will appear and you will be able to name your channel. By very descriptive of your title so that you can remember what ad corresponds to what channel. Once you have named the channel click OK
    6. Now click the “continue” button and continue to set up your ad as usual.

Now whenever someone clicks on an ad that is contained within a channel you will see the channel displayed when you view your Adsense Reports.

Using channels has to be the best way to track and test which ads are preforming the best. It’s the only reason I have grown and improved my adsense income. I would recommend setting up the channels as soon as you can and begin testing right away

  2. Create a separate channel for every position. An other solution would be to buy a software able to track this and more. If you are using wordpress there are some plug-ins for free.
If you use Google analytics, I think there is a new feature now to do this too.

  3. You need to create channels to track which ad format, which pages an which placement on the page give you the best revenue. You can create 200 channels, so better use it.

In our case, we have channels for each

    - topic/section so we know which ones yield the best income
    - ad format to know if rectangles or wide skys or leaderboards work well
    - placement on the page to know how much above the fold ads bring relative to below the fold
